KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Drake women's golf squad fired a two-round total of 658 (334-324) to stand seventh of 10 teams after 36 holes at the Kangaroo Invitational hosted by UMKC at the Shoal Creek Golf Club on Monday (April 8).
“I thought we were able to bounce back with a solid effort in our second round after struggling over the tournament's initial 18 holes,” Drake head coach Leanne Smith commented. “Hadley (Jennings) came back with a 74 in the second round, while Chelsey (Falk) added a 79. I'm hopeful we can come out tomorrow and shoot some good rounds and close the tournament out on a strong note.”
Junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) is tied for 11th after posting a team-best 36-hole score of 156 (82-74).
Senior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) finished four shots off her pace with a two-round total of 160 (81-79), good for 22nd place.
Rounding out Drake's efforts were sophomores Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) and Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) along with freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa). The trio carded scores of 168 (79-89), 177 (92-85) and 181 (95-86), respectively, to enter the tournament's final day tied for 36th, 50th and 56th place.
The Bulldogs close out their efforts at the Kangaroo Invitational on Tuesday (April 9). Tee times will begin play for the final 18 holes starting at 8:00 a.m.
