DES MOINES, Iowa – Jordan Daniels, a 5-9 point
guard, has joined the Drake University men's basketball program, head coach
Mark Phelps announced Wednesday, Jan. 16.
A native of Fontana, Calif., Daniels is a transfer student
from Boston College where he played in all 31 games last season as a freshman
with 25 starts.
“Jordan is a guy who has proven he can play at the highest
level as a starter in the ACC,” Drake head coach Mark Phelps said. “He brings
quickness, poise and composure to the point guard position as well as really
outstanding three-point shooting . He will be a great addition to our program.”
Per NCAA rules, Daniels will be eligible to compete
following the conclusion of the 2013 fall semester at Drake. He will have three
remaining years of eligibility for the Bulldogs.
During his freshman season at Boston College, he averaged
6.4 points, 2.6 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game. He fared even better against
tough Atlantic Coast Conference competition with 7.3 points, 2.8 assists and
1.8 rebounds in conference games and led the Eagles in assists on the season.
Against No. 15 Florida State, he set career highs in points
(21) and three-pointers (4) to help the Eagles to an upset win.
As a high school senior, he helped Etiwanda High School to a
CIF Southern Section Finals appearance and a 29-4 record while averaging 12
points, six assists and three rebounds per game.
