MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Drake men's tennis squad crafted another strong effort in second-day action at the Gopher Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 3) registering a 17-4 combined singles/doubles ledger, including 12-2 in singles competition.

The Bulldogs opened their day against Nebraska with nine singles and four doubles matches.  The Bulldogs dominated singles play earning triumphs in seven of the nine tilts, before the two sides split doubles with two wins apiece.

Each dropping first-set decisions, senior James McKie (Edinburgh, Scotland) and junior Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) rallied to notch three-set singles victories.  McKie bested Marc Hermann, 1-6, 6-3, 10-7, while Goodman downed Andre Stenger, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 10-7.

Also contributing singles wins over Nebraska were seniors Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia) and Anis Ghorbel (Sfax, Tunisia), sophomores Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England), Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) and freshman Ben Lott (Newcastle, England).

Garnering doubles victories for Drake were the tandems of Ghorbel and McKie and Lott and Salibasic.

The Bulldogs concluded their day battling DePaul in eight matches (five singles and three doubles).

Drake swept the Blue Demons in singles with triumphs from Goodman, Salibasic, Erasmus, Mullis and Lott, before taking all three doubles contests.

The Bulldogs conclude their fall campaign on Sunday (Nov. 4) battling Dartmouth in singles and doubles at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively.
