ST. LOUIS — Drake
men's cross country standout Brogan Austin added to his MVC honors list with his selection to the 2012 men's
cross country MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
The MVC Scholar-Athlete Team is made up of selected student-athletes
who finish in the top 20 at the conference championship and hold a cumulative grade-point
average of 3.2 with sophomore standing.
Austin was
honored with the award for the second straight year by placing third at the MVC
Championship on Saturday, Oct 27. He ran the 8-kilometer course at Weibring
Golf Course in Normal, Ill. in 24:25.01.
The junior holds a 3.58 GPA with a double major in math and
education. He was selected for the MVC's Elite 18 Award, which goes to the top
achieving male student-athlete at the MVC Championship combined with highest
grade-point average.
Austin is one of nine MVC men's student-athletes to receive
the award. He held the highest conference finishing position of the nine.
Fourteen student-athletes were selected on the women's side.
