DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake
women's soccer team has received recognition of its efforts this season as six
Bulldogs and head coach Lindsey Horner
were recognized when College Sports
Madness released its 2012 Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer award
winners.
Horner was selected as the MVC Coach of the Year after having guided
Drake to a 12-5-2 record this fall entering the Bulldogs' MVC Tournament
showdown with Creighton at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 28) at the Cownie Soccer Complex.
Chosen as the Valley's Defensive Player of the Year was junior Megan Fisher (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny).
Fisher is joined on the College
Sports Madness first-team All-MVC squad by sophomore forward Ashlie Stokes (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux
City North), junior midfielder Brittany Schuling (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) and junior goalkeeper Kalena Litch (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata).
Recognized as second-team honorees were junior Generve Charles (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) and freshman Rhian Pritchard (Overland Park,
Kan./Blue Valley North).
