LEDBETTER, Ky. - Senior
Chelsey Falk
(Glenwood, Minn.) fired back-to-back rounds of 73 and 74 to lead the Drake
women's golf team to an eighth-place showing (317-314=631) among 11 teams after 36 holes at
the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational hosted by the Drake Creek Golf Club on
Monday (Sept. 17).
"It was nice for
Chelsey (Falk) to turn in quality back-to-back rounds today and continue her
solid play from our first tournament," Bulldog head coach Leanne Smith commented. "It was also good
to get some quality rounds from Hadley (Jennings)."
Falk's two-round
score of 147 (73-74) places her in a fourth-place tie, three shots behind
tournament leader Shay Sullivan of Belmont.
Junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) shot an opening-round 77 before firing a
second-round 73 to move into a 13th-place tie with a 36-hole score of 150
(77-73).
Sophomore Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) and freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) recorded tournament
scores of 160 and 174 to stand in 34th and 54th place, respectively. Brooks (78-82=160) turned in rounds of
78 and 82, while Clausen (89-85=174) signed off on scores of 89 and 85.
"Overall there were
some good team scores fired today," said Smith. "To be right in the middle of the pack with our competition
from the MVC in the tournament knowing that we're only playing with four
players is encouraging, especially this early in the season."
The Bulldogs conclude
play at the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 18) with an
8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
