The Drake University rowing team is currently
looking for new members for the 2012-2013 season. We will be having an
information meeting on Tuesday, August 28 in Olmstead 310 at 7pm. Come to the meeting to find
out more about the team and get your questions answered.
Drake rowing is a member of the Metro
Atlantic Athletic Conference. This allows us to compete locally, as well as
take trips to the east coast to compete in our conference and the Dad Vail
Regatta. The Drake team became a varsity sport in 2000, and since then has been
building a tradition of excellence both on and off the water. Drake rowers
strive to support each other and encourage each other to be better athletes,
students and citizens. We believe rowing is the ultimate team sport and so the
level of commitment required to be successful is great, but the rewards are
even greater.
In 2012, we had our best season yet. The
Drake rowing team won the MAAC Conference Championship, and our Open Varsity 4+
won their event at the Dad Vail Regatta. We are looking forward to building on
this success for the 2013 season and have our sights set on the NCAA
Championships.
At Drake, all student-athletes have the
opportunity to experience both a quality education and the excitement of
participating in Division I athletics. Our program provides an environment
where a student can develop academically, athletically and
socially.
