DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake men's tennis
senior Jonathan Hadash (Lapid,
Israel) earned recognition for his efforts in the classroom as he was tabbed a
first-team Capital One Academic All-America All-District VI At-Large selection.
Hadash boasts a 3.91 GPA, majoring in accounting, and he helped Drake to
a No. 48 ITA ranking, and the Bulldogs' sixth NCAA Tournament berth on the
strength of an 18-3 singles record.
He was also named a first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete
and MVC Elite 18 selection for the second-straight season in 2012.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important
reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at
his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in
at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination
form (where applicable).
Hadash advances to the
Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and
third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
