DES MOINES, Iowa -
The 48th-rated
Drake men's tennis team learned its draw for the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday
(May 1) and for the fourth time in the last six seasons the Bulldogs (24-2
overall) will head to Champaign, Ill., to open tournament play against No. 15
Auburn (17-9) on May 11 at 12:00 p.m.
In each of the
previous three tournament appearances for Drake (2007, 2008 and 2011), the
Bulldogs have been chosen to play at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex on the
campus of the University of Illinois. Drake dropped 4-0, 4-1 and 4-0
decisions to Michigan, Louisiana State and the host Illini in 2007, 2008 and
2011, respectively.
The other two teams
in the region are 16th-seeded Illinois and Western Michigan, who will meet at 3:00
p.m. on May 11. The winner of that match will square off against the
winner of the Drake-Auburn contest on May 12 at 2:00 p.m.
Ticket prices for the
First and Second Rounds are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.
Tickets for the First
and Second Rounds can be purchased at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex starting
one hour prior to the first match each day. One ticket is valid for one
admission to all matches on the day the ticket is purchased. Free parking
is available east of the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex off of Goodwin Ave.
