WHAT'S AHEAD:  Drake travels to Hutchinson, Kan., this week to compete in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship (April 30-May 1) at the Prairie Dunes Country Club.

The nine-team field will play 36 holes on Monday (April 30) and conclude with the final 18 holes on Tuesday (May 1).  Shotgun starts are scheduled to begin each day at 8:30 a.m.

A YEAR AGO:  Cody Schweinefus won a sudden-death playoff at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship on April 26, 2011 in Sunrise Beach, Mo., to win medalist honors and earn a berth in the NCAA Regional.

Schweinefus bettered Tyler Gann of Wichita State on the first hole of the sudden-death playoff to win the event, concluding the tournament with a total score of 220 (69-74-77=220). 

The Bulldogs finished play at the Club at Porto Cima with a fifth-place showing, carding a total of 935 (306-315-314).

Ben Freeman earned a fifth-place tie firing a score of 231 (81-75-75=231). Both Freeman and Schweinefus were named to the all-conference team.

Rounding out the score for Drake were Connor Steele (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Brad Reierson and Matt Ohl (Milford, Iowa), who carded three-round totals of 244 (75-85-84=244), 248 (81-82-85=248) and 250 (88-84-78=250) respectively.
