TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Sparked by three golfers shooting scores in the 70's, the
Drake women's golf team carded a final-round 317 to finish eighth of 10 teams
at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship hosted by Indiana
State at the Country Club of Terre Haute on Tuesday (April 24).
Buoyed by their 317
performance over the final 18 holes, the Bulldogs concluded the tournament with
a 54-hole mark of 981 (323-341-317=981).
"I was extremely
happy with the fight of the team to put together such a solid round and as a
result move up in the final standings," Drake head coach Leanne Smith commented.
"Hadley (Jennings), Danielle (Brooks) and Chelsey (Falk) all played really
well today and this was a positive way to end our campaign."
Sophomore Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) matched
her lowest score of the year shooting a team-best 75.
Junior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) was
Drake's top finisher as her final-round 78 enabled her to conclude the event
with a 241 (81-82-78=241) total, good for 33rd place.
Closing a strong
rookie campaign with a 77 was freshman Danielle
Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.), who posted a 34th-place effort with a
242 (81-84-77=242) total.
Concluding their
Drake careers on the day were seniors Paige Menze
(Oxbow, N.D.) and Christy
Wittmer (Hampton, Iowa), who registered scores of 87 and 91, to finish
in 44th- and 47th-place, respectively.
Falk, Jennings and Menze
each collected three birdies on the day, while Brook recorded an eagle on the
par-4 fifth hole.

257 (84-86-87=257/44th) and Christy
Wittmer 268 (88-89-91=268/47th) and Hadley
