PEORIA, Ill.
- Sophomore
Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) led the Drake women's golf team firing a
final-round 75 on Saturday (April 7) at the Hotels at Grand Prairie
Invitational hosted by WeaverRidge Golf Club to pace the Bulldogs to a
three-round score of 983 (337-314-332=983) and an eighth-place showing among 10
teams.
"Hadley (Jennings)
turned in a really good final round posting four birdies en route to shooting a
75," Bulldog head coach Leanne Smith commented.
"She started her round out a little rough but she played very well over
the final nine holes."
Buoyed by her
final-round effort, Jennings was the Bulldogs' top finisher with a 54-hole
total of 235 (84-76-75=235), to complete the tournament tied for eighth place.
Junior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) had her struggles on the final day shooting an
89 to conclude the event with a three-round effort of 243 (80-74-89=243), good
for a 24th-place tie.
Firing scores of 251
(86-81-84=251) and 254 (87-83-84=254), to finish 39th and tied for 43rd-place, respectively,
was freshman Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.), and
senior Paige Menze (Oxbow, N.D.).
Rounding out Drake's
top-five was sophomore Cristina Bowery (Carmel, Calif.), who wrapped up her tournament with
a 272 (90-90-92=272) score, good for a 56th-place.
"I'm glad we have a
week to work on some of our inconsistencies," said Smith. "Hopefully, we can work those out
before Creighton so our scores don't fluctuate so much."
Drake returns to
action at the Creighton Invitational (April 16-17).
