ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The
Missouri Valley Conference has announced that Drake freshman Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia &
Herzegovina) has been selected as the MVC Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
This marks the second consecutive weekly accolade for a Drake men's tennis
player this season and the first in Salibasic's career.
Salibasic posted a perfect 4-0 mark in
helping the No. 70 Bulldogs register a pair of weekend triumphs at the Roger
Knapp Tennis Center.
Competing at the top singles and doubles
slots against Western Illinois, he paired with senior Cesar Bracho (Luque, Paraguay) to clinch the doubles point with an
8-3 victory.
Later in the day, he sealed Drake's win
over Chicago State with a victory at No. 2 singles.
On the season, he owns a 21-9 combined
singles/doubles ledger, including an 11-5 mark in singles.
Salibasic and the Bulldogs (4-1) return to action this Thursday (Feb. 9)
as Drake hosts No. 64 East Tennessee State at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
