AMES, Iowa – The Drake women's track squad, in its first meet of
the season with a full team, had a successful second day of competition at the Iowa State Open on Saturday (Jan. 21) at the
Lied Recreation Center.
Freshman Mariel Fulton (Louisville, Colo.),
in her first meet in her Bulldog career, garnered a second-place showing in the
seeded 3,000-meters timing in at 10:29.63.
Juniors Sarah Yeager (Ottumwa, Iowa) and Briana Isom-Brummer (St. Louis, Mo.) earned top-eight finishes in the finals of
the 60-meter hurdles.Yeager notched a sixth-place showing clocking in at 9.08,
while Isom-Brummer finished in 9.22 to place eighth.
The Drake 4x400
relay team of juniors Marissa Smith (Ajax, Ontario), Whitney Westrum (Waukee, Iowa), Yeager and Isom-Brummer were sixth in 3:57.96.
Drake will travel to Lawrence, Kan., to compete at the Jayhawk Invitational
on Friday (Jan. 27).
