Phelps Moves Into Elite Eight Of Shots From The Heart Event
DES MOINES, IOWA - Drake men's basketball head coach Mark Phelps continued his run through the CollegeInsider.com Shots from the Heart free throw shooting challenge, connecting on 24-of-25 attempts to best Milan Brown of Holy Cross, who made 23-of-25 attempts, to move into the Elite Eight.
Phelps moves into the West Regional final against Sean Miller of Arizona. Miller made a perfect 25-of-25 attempts to defeat Ron Everhart of Duquesne.
In an effort to avoid ties, the following scoring system is used: shots 1-20 are worth 1 point, shots 21-24 are worth 2 points and shot 25 is worth 3 points.
Competition will take place during the month of February with the winner advancing to the Final Four. The championship match of the event will take place at the NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas.
The Shots from the Heart event is a challenge for head and assistant coaches across the country, joining together in an effort to generate more awareness for the growing problem of heart disease.
