DES MOINES, IOWA - The Drake University women's basketball team will sponsor the inaugural "Bowl For the Bulldogs" fundraising event at Val Lanes Recreation Center in West Des Moines on Sept. 19. Participants will bowl with and against members of the Drake women's basketball team in an effort to raise funds to send the team to the Caribbean Challenge in Cancun, Mexico, next season.

Hosted by the Moon Palace Resort, the Caribbean Challenge provides Drake an opportunity to face elite-level competition as well as a rare and unique cultural experience. Participation in the tournament, held Nov. 24-26, 2011, will directly aid the program in recruiting top-level prospects from throughout the Midwest.

The Bulldogs ask for your help in making this trip a reality.

"A trip to Cancun allows us the opportunity to give our student-athletes a one-of-a-kind foreign experience during their tenure at Drake," said head coach Amy Stephens. "It gives us a boost with our recruiting efforts as well."

Registration for 'Bowl For the Bulldogs' is $50 for adults and $25 for children in eighth grade or below. Fans are encouraged mail or fax their RSPV to Kendra Wilson by Sept. 13. Address, fax and payment information can be found in the PDF at the bottom of this page.

"Bowl For the Bulldogs' allows our supporters to really connect with our players and coaching staff," Stephens added. "It should be a very fun afternoon."
