Olivia Lansing (Dellwood, Minn.) has been selected as a second alternate to get invited to the U.S. Women's Open which will be played at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., July 8-11
Lansing finished third overall in the U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifying at the White Bear Yacht Club in White Bear Lake, Minn., posting a 36-hole score of 76-78=153. Martha Nause won the event with a 75-74=149.
Drake junior
Ben Freeman (Fargo, N.D.) tied for 10th out of 155 golfers at the U.S. Open Qualifying at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. Freeman just missed qualifying by one stroke after posting a 38-37=75. Seven golfers qualified with scores ranging from 71 to 74.
Former Drake golfer
Kane Hanson tied for 17th out of 90 players at the U.S. Open Qualifying round held at the Phoenix (Ariz.) Country Club with a three-over-par 72, just three strokes off qualifying.
Hanson was a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection at Drake in 2003, 2004, 2006.
