DES MOINES, IOWA
-- Drake senior forward Monique' Jones (Lee's Summit, Mo.) was named the
most valuable player on the 2009-10 Drake women's basketball team during the
annual team banquet Sunday night at the Sheraton of West Des Moines.
Jones also earned Most Outstanding Defensive Player
plaudits for the fourth year in a row. The senior averaged 10.1 points and led
the squad with 6.0 rebounds per game during the 2009-10 season.
Junior guard Kristin Turk (Des Moines, Iowa) was named Most
Outstanding Offensive Player after averaging 13.4 points and registering a
team-best 52 three-point baskets. Sophomore Rachael Hackbarth (Colgate, Wis.)
was named Most Improved Player for the second year in a row.
Senior guard Jordann Plummer (St. Louis, Mo.) also was
honored for her five-year tenure as a Drake player. Plummer earned second team
all-Missouri Valley Conference this season after leading the Bulldogs in scoring
with a 13.6 average.
