HUTCHINSON, KAN. - Drake junior Brad Reierson (Chaska, Minn.) shot a four-over-par 74 in the second round to move into a tie for second place in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship Monday.
Reierson helped propel the Bulldogs into fourth place after 36 holes in the team standings with 333-313=646 score just five strokes behind third-place Illinois State. Drake junior Ben Freeman (Fargo, N.D.) and freshman Jared Gustafson (Omaha, Neb.) were tied for 22nd.
Freeman cut 10 strokes off his first-round score of 87 to post a 77 in the second round for a 164 total. Gustafson enjoyed rounds of 83-81=164.
Wichita State, the pre-meet favorte, posted rounds of 316-308=624 on the par-70, 6,598-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club to enjoye a one-stroke lead over Southern Illinois (314-311=625).
Reierson is tied with Wichtia State's Dustin Garz for second place. Southern Illinois' Patrick Schell has the individual lead with a 76-76=152, one stroke ahead of Reierson and Garz.
