LINCOLN, NEB. - The Drake men's tennis team had few answers for an
experienced Nebraska squad on Wednesday (March 3) as the Cornhuskers handed the
Bulldogs a 6-1 setback.
"A number of points at key moments in the match didn't go
our way tonight and we weren't able to bounce back," Drake head coach Jimmy Borendame
commented. "We need to learn from
this and be tougher when the calls don't go in our favor."
Nebraska, who has spent much of the season in the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings, took control of the tilt
securing victories at all three doubles slots.
The Bulldogs garnered their lone triumph at No. 6 where
freshman Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia) cultivated a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory over Bendikt
Lindheim.
Nearly registering another win for Drake was sophomore Jonathan Hadash (Lapid,
Israel), who was bested by Andre Stenger at No. 5, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (March 7) hosting
Gustavus Adolphus and Graceland at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively.
