DES MOINES, IOWA - Drake senior forward
Adam Templeton (Rapid City, S.D.) was named to the first team Academic All-District VII men's basketball team presented by ESPN The Magazine as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Templeton was the only player from Iowa to make the all-district academic All-American university division team. Templeton owns a 3.30 grade-point average majoring in business management.
He is now a finalist for the Academic All-America team which will be named Feb. 24.
District VII consists of schools from the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Candidates must own a minimum 3.30 grade point average.
The six-foot six-inch Templeton is one of the most versatile players in the Missouri Valley Conference, leading the league in three-point field goal percentage (.457) while ranking third in rebounding with a 7.3 average.
He has nearly doubled his scoring output from last season, averaging 9.8 points, compared to 5.4 in 2008-09.
Templeton has collected four double-doubles this season, including a 13-point and 13-rebound effort at Bradley Tuesday.
He owns the top three single-game rebounding marks in the MVC with 16 boards against South Dakota and 14 against Illinois State.
