Women's Tennis Team At ITA Central Regional

WHAT'S AHEAD: The Drake women's tennis team travels to Norman, Okla., to compete in the ITA Central Regional this Wednesday through Sunday (Oct. 21-25) with the event hosted by the University of Oklahoma.

After the regional, Drake will be idle until opening the spring season Jan. 30, against Kansas at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

LAST YEAR: Drake concluded its fall campaign at the ITA Midwest Regional with the Bulldogs coming up short in each of their three doubles tilts.

Seniors Veronika Leszayova and Sarah Plowman were dealt an 8-2 setback by Miami University's Stephanie Danesis and Megan Martzolf in the opening round of the main draw.

In Drake's other main draw doubles tilt, the then freshmen tandem of Gabby Demos (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) and Amanda Aragon (Fort  Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) suffered an 8-5 loss to Julie Voss and Kelsey Haviland of Ohio State.

In consolation action, the duo of Leszayova and Plowman dropped an 8-5 decision to Katie Potts and Kristin Rafeal of Notre Dame.
