Me on the team bus
Hey Bulldog fans! Here are some of my thoughts on our recent matches and road trips:
Thoughts on the game vs. UNI:
Once again Cownie was cold and damp so I sported a pair of thin black gloves and under-armor. After watching half my team slip and fall on the damp grass during warm-up, I made a mental note of the slippery conditions and how it might affect the game.
Thankfully, during the game no goals were scored due to the slippery conditions, however there was a lot of falling. Overall, the game went well, I was thrilled to get our first conference win, as well as enjoy Laura's mom's homemade cookies afterwards. Thanks Mrs. Moklestad!

Thoughts on the Edwardsville trip:
My feelings about the Edwardsville trip are mixed. Though we ended up with a disappointing loss, the trip still had many high points.
The fist high point was definitely the team dinner Saturday night. We usually order in food from a restaurant, but this time we actually went to the restaurant and ate there. We had three delicious options to choose from: spaghetti, chicken, or filet mignon. Of course I jumped at the chance for a free 5 oz filet mignon and it proved to be a great decision. Not only did we get our main course, but the meal also included bread, soup, salad, and sides…what a feast! And for dessert—CUPCAKES! But it doesn't end there, Mrs. Walsh provided goodie bags for us to take home as well, equipped with candy, and St. Louis postcards, key chains, and pencils. We were all thrilled to say the least. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Walsh for the awesome dinner and experience!
Then, on the way home, I decided to join the usual card game that occurs in the back of the bus. The game was “Up and Down the River” and the competition was fierce. Coach Horner stuck with her typical strategy of always betting on 0 “tricks” as Liz watched in frustration (Liz hates when people play it safe and don't bet on any “tricks”). However, Horner's strategy proved to be a lot better than Liz's which she likes to call “living on the edge” and usually betting on multiple “tricks” despite the hand she was dealt. Needless to say Liz quickly found herself in last place with negative points (sorry birthday girl!). Coach Oswald, Fig, and Alyssa were solid as usual and I found myself all over the place having never played before. Alyssa proved to be the champion once again with a dominating performance. She quotes “I was just focused on getting that big 'W'.” (please note that Alyssa does look a little suspicious while taking score… we're not accusing her of anything, we're just saying…)
Finally, let's not forget Sunday was Liz's 22nd Birthday. Mrs. Gielau helped out with the celebration as she held a poster board up during the game that said “HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ”. Also, some of Liz's friends attended the game and brought her cupcakes and a cookie cake so the ride home was very sugar filled. The celebration and trip ended with the team singing happy birthday to Liz.
We'd love to see you in the stands on Thursday night for our game against Creighton!
