MOLINE, ILL. - The Drake women's crew team will have to wait another two weeks before resuming action after the 16th annual Quad City Classic Regatta was canceled today because of poor weather conditions along the Mississippi River.
The Regatta was expected to have 18 clubs participate representing eight states.
"We were disappointed because the team had trained well the last two weeks and this was something we were looking forward to see how much we had improved," said Drake head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro.
"But the conditions today didn't warrant any racing. It wouldn't have been safe."
Now the Bulldogs will focus attention on training in preparation for their next race at the Head of the Iowa Regatta Oct. 25 in Iowa City, Iowa.
"It would have been nice to compete with different lineups under race conditions today," DiSilvestro added. "But we'll resume training the same as if we had a race."
