EVANSVILLE, IND.
- Drake junior defender Brian Wurst (Kansas City, Mo./Tulsa/Park Hill South)
and sophomore forward Kenan Malicevic Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Cedar Valley) were
named to the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship
All-Tournament team.
Wurst anchored a defense that allowed one goal by Missouri State
through 110 minutes of the semifinal matchup with the Bulldogs Friday (Nov.
14). Drake tied the Bears 1-1, with the Missouri State
advancing to the championship with a 4-1 penalty kick advantage. Wurst has
three points on three assists this season and was part of a defense that
recorded a school-record 13 wins, including six shutouts.
Malicevic scored Drake's only goal in the semifinal game off a rebound into an
open net. He also led the team with six shots, including two shots on goal.
Malicevic has 13 points on five goals and three assists this season, including
four goals and two assists in the Bulldogs last three matches.
Drake, 13-4-1, now awaits the NCAA Tournament announcements Monday (Nov. 17).
