CO-CAPTAINS: Fifth-year senior linebacker Cale Hunt and fifth-year senior offensive lineman Eric Mora (Roselle, Ill.) and senior fullack Steve Platek have been named captains for the 2009 Drake football team. Hunt was a co-captain last year, starting the first four games before suffering a season-ending elbow injury against San Diego. At the time he led the Drake defense in tackles with 35.
Platek earned first-team All-Pioneer Football League honors after moving from starting linebacker to J-Back in Drake's new offense during the 2008 preseason camp.
