Patterson Named To All-MVC Scholar-Athlete Squad

WICHITA, Kan. - Drake women's tennis senior Ali Patterson (Overland Park, Kan.) garnered recognition for her work in the classroom with her selection to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete honorable mention team on Thursday (April 25).

Patterson maintains a 3.43 grade-point average majoring in health sciences.  She owns a 20-15 combined singles/doubles ledger this season.

Patterson played singles and doubles in the fall before being limited to only doubles this spring due to a torn rotator cuff.  Her seven doubles victories during the spring are the third-highest total on the squad.  She registered a 4-2 mark during MVC play, while leading in another match that went unfinished.

To be eligible for nominations to the MVC Scholar-Athlete teams, nominees must own a cumulative GPA of 3.20 based on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or important reserve and have played in at least 75 percent of its team's matches. Student-athletes also must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.

The third-seeded Bulldogs (12-9) open play at the MVC Championship on Friday (April 26) in Wichita, Kan., against sixth-seeded Northern Iowa in a 4:00 p.m. match.
