WHAT'S AHEAD: The Drake women's golf team will play in the 16-team Jackrabbit Invitational next Monday and Tuesday (March 15-16) at the Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev., The women will play on the par-72, 6,022-yard Lakes Course.
Participating teams include Centenary, Cleveland State, Gonzaga, Iowa, Kennesaw State, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oakland, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, Southern Utah, UMKC, Wyoming and host South Dakota State.
A LOOK BACK: Drake finished 25th in the 33-team Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic at King Island, S.C., Feb. 23, with a 323-321-314=958. Miami won the team championship with a 296-307-289=892.
Senior Elena Vukmir (Wauwatosa, Wis.) closed out the tournament by enjoying the best round of any Drake golfer with a two-over-par 74. Vukmir, who collected three birdies on the day, tied for 47th overall with a 78-78-74=230.
Senior Olivia Lansing (Deerfield, Minn.) tied for 78th with an 84-77-75=236. Junior Michelle Mathwick (Greenfield, Wis.) posted an 80-81-82=243 to finish in a tie for 123rd. Junior Kaitlyn Mauk (West Des Moines, Iowa) tied for 146th at 81-86-84=251, while senior Kelly Godwin (Centerville, Minn.) tied for 149th at 84-85-83=252.
